The Arcs Live on KCRW

This fictional project between The Arcs & KCRW was an idea conceived by the material & cultural approach that coexisted back in the days where a live show record could determine if a musical project was bad, good or a masterpiece and then the physical record itself would be venerated as a must-have or a cult piece among collectors. Seizing the vinyl boom I wanted to bring some magic back to the music industry in the hands of one of the most influential radio stations in the music world which is KCRW. As you may know KCRW has hosted so many excelent musical projects in their studios for over 20 years making it one of the most reliable mediums of approaching & discovering new music.

The reason which I've chosen them is a consequence of a live show of The Arcs on KCRW that I discovered few months ago on Youtube and it practically amazed me along with their presentation on NPR Music. In fact, the quality of their music was so wonderful to me that while I was on cannabis their songs 'Velvet ditch' & 'Everything you do (you do for you)' illustrated in my mind this cabaret scene in a very western-like building where everyone will be drinking in their tables and in the bar watching women dancing, in this image I noticed how the audience were actually enjoying the show and I could even see thick waves of smoke floating around the place of joy and tragedy. At that very moment it came very clear to me the bare awareness of that music itself lead you to sensational places of your own mind when you actually listening properly rather than literally watching the show (of course it doesn't apply to all cases). So this is where the concept came from and it is to essentially capture the live experience of a musical project into a vinyl record and wrapping in it a whole mixture of "souvenirs" from the show like Polaroids or Instax photographs including guitar picks and poster(s).

This fictional record features:
- 12" LP
- 2 12x18" Posters
- 6 Polaroids
- 4 Guitar picks

It's not what you hear but what you see in what you hear.
